To start with, these days there are no technical barriers preventing cell phone or VoIP calls during a flight. Moreover American Airlines now offers broadband internet access to its clients, but has taken measures not to let passengers use Skype or similar VoIP software. The only reason of the prohibition is our own comfortable flight. Airlines are trying to avoid some tension and social consequences of letting passengers chatter. Most of you probably wouldn’t like to be sitting next to a chatterbox who will be telling his or her dummy stories the whole flight long, but you also might need to speak with the friends picking you up or answer some urgent call.
